Name the Orca Babies!

That’s right! It’s time to the name the orca babies! Through the Orca Adoption Program, each calf receives a name. This summer, the babies, J-50, J-51, J-52, and L-121, will be named! Over the years, there have been different ways in which the Southern Resident orcas have been named through The Whale Museum.

For the last few years, the Name the Baby contest has been very popular. Members of The Whale Museum may suggest names for the ballot. Of the names suggested, based on certain criteria, four potential names are selected for each calf and then placed on the ballot. This year, you can vote for your favorite names from August 2nd until September 9th via our website, in the Exhibit Hall at The Whale Museum, or even at the San Juan County Fair (August 12-15).

Whale Museum members receive free admission to our Exhibit Hall every day and San Juan County residents receive free admission every Thursday, so come in and cast your vote! Voting ends September 9, 2015.
